Bristol Futures Global IBFG) Ltd is the Smart City consultancy established in 2016 by Stephen Hilton, former Director of Futures at Bristol City Council.  BFG draws on 20 years senior level experience - developing and delivering innovative and impactful projects in Bristol - but now BFG works with cities, government bodies, communities, universities and businesses across the West of England, the UK and around the world.  Recent projects include:
  • Leading the delivery of the West of England 5G Smart Tourism programme
  • Developing University of the West of England’s approach to being a civic university
  • Developing the University of Bristol and West of England Combined Authority’s £5million winning bid to the 5G TESTBED AND TRIALS programme
  • Supporting Bristol City Council to develop an ambitious business case and bid to Wave 2 of the Local Full Fibre Network Challenge
  • Advising tech start-ups on their engagement with Local Authoritues, in the areas of tele-care and high-street regeneration
  • Supporting the British Council and the WeAlmatey Parnership to develop Open Data and Smart City strategy in Kazakhstan
  • Publishing a research report on Smart City Governance with Prof Alex Marsh, University of Bristol
  • Sharing knowledge with Japanese cities about Smart Citues and rhe UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Developing a publication on Blockchain, Knowledge Exchange and Smart Cities for University of Bristol
  • Developing a £7m University-Industry bid to the HEFCE Connecting Capabilitues Fund
  • Publishing 'Where do I Plug in my Mobile?' - a feature for The Planner on Cities learning to live in Permanent Beta
  • Evaluating funding bids on behalf of a major national technology funding body
  • Drafting Bristol’s response to the UK Government Call for Evidence on Full Fibre and 5G

  • Appearing on BBC Points West talking about the future impact of 5G

  • Chairing the Invest Bristol & Bath VentureFest 2017 smart city Conference 

  • Supporting Zeetta Networks, the leading open Software Defined Networking company

  • Supporting Smart Energy GB launch the REAL RATIO a Framework for UK Smart Meter roll out 

  • Supporting Arcadis to increase the resilience of Polish citie
  • Helping the Science and Innovation Network to develop a UK-US Internet of Things workshop for cities at SxSW in Austin, Texa
  • Building links between Bristol and Chicago through the AOT Array of Things projects
  • Working with Fraser International to host a visit from the Canadian City of Summerside who aim to be a Living La
  • Winning the IEEE Connected OFCity Challenge to deliver optical innovation for future services in a smart city, in Los Angeles
  • Spoke about New Challenges for Cities at the Regional Studies Association Winter Conference
